Mount Airy Museum of Regional History

This is a sample of the projects I was involved with at the Mount Airy Museum from 2010 to 2015:

White Liquor and Dirt Tracks - Biographies

This was the second of the White Liquor and Dirt Tracks exhibit. In this version we focused on the stories of the early generations of racers, owners and officials affiliated with the rise of NASCAR. This was my first introduction into museum exhibits. I assisted with the construction and installation of the exhibit as well as VIP relations during the exhibit opening.

The Luthier's Craft: Instrument Making Traditions of the Blue Ridge

This traveling exhibit focuses on the tradition of making musical instruments in the Blue Ridge region of the United States. It consists of five components: Fiddle, Guitar, Banjo, Mandolin, and Dulcimer. I was involved in the original construction and installation, the 2014 display of the Fiddle Component at the International Bluegrass Music Association Festival, and the installation of a smaller permanent version in the museum itself.

Tar Heel Junior Historians - Jesse Franklin Pioneers

During the 2012 - 2013 school year I served as the assistant club adviser for the museum's chapter of the Tar Heel Junior Historian Association. This group is comprised of elementary aged students that learn about local history and participate in state-wide competition. The group project for this particular year consisted of a 1930's style radio show based on Mount Airy history.

WPAQ

This is a permanent installation at MAMRH which displays the history of WPAQ, a local AM radio station which went live on Groundhog Day of 1948. I was involved with the installation of the exhibit and the fabrication and installation of the display for the original neon call letters.

Mount Airy Local Sports Exhibit

This exhibit is based on the history of sports in Mount Airy, from baseball to NASCAR. I was assisted with the installation of the exhibit in the summer of 2015.

Site Improvements

While at MAMRH I was tasked with various site improvement projects around the museum including prepping for the new window graphics on the front of the museum, building a checker board for the alcove of the building, and various paint and building projects.
